5.TRIGONOMETRIC FUNCTIONS

To sketch the graph of sine or cosine function , students are encouraged to follow the steps below.

1.   Determine the angle to be labeled on x-axis.

    

      eg :         Function             angle

                      y = sin x                        x  = 90^o

                     y = cos 2x           2x = 90^o

                                                  x = 45^o

                     y = sin           = 90^o

                                                  x = 60^o

2.   Calculate the values of y for each value of x by using calculator

      eg  :  y = 1 – 2 cos 2x
